2013 Bares and Broncs Set to Pay Cowboys

Instead of paying an entry fee, cowboys will receive money when they enter this year’s Daily Record Bares and Broncs. The first 10 bareback riders and first 10 saddle bronc riders who enter this year’s contest will receive a $50 appearance fee when they show up for the contest.

“With the rising cost of fuel and everything else,” says organizer Daniel Beard, “We thought it would sure help guys out to have some costs covered. A car load of guys could get their whole weekend paid for by riding at the futurity.”

There will still be added money in each event. $2,000 added in both the bareback riding and saddle bronc riding. The Bares and Broncs will pay out four places. So cowboys have the opportunity to win big checks with the security of knowing their expenses are covered in part or in full.

There will be no entry fees for any riders, so additional riders beyond the first ten will be able to show up and ride for the chance of winning the prize money with no entry fee money coming out of their pocket.

“We wanted some sort of system this year that would eliminate turn-outs and also encourage more cowboys to enter. As the number of rough stock cowboys decline, you’ve got to be more aggressive about making the event attractive,” says Beard.

The Daily Record Bares and Broncs will be held on May 18th, 2013 in Ellensburg, Washington. The event will start at 6:30 PM. Entries open Saturday, April 7th at 1:00PM. Please call Daniel Beard at 509-933-1717 to enter or for questions.
